Services for Seniors

What is a Daily Money Manager?

Daily money managers (DMMs) are financial organizers and provide personal assistance to their clients to manage their personal financial affairs. This can include bill paying, checkbook balancing, organizing financial paperwork, communicating with banks and attorneys, and maintaining bank accounts. I have worked with seniors with dementia and other cognitive issues as well as physical impairments preventing them from handling their paperwork.

Some people may assume that hiring a daily money manager means losing control. In fact, the opposite is true, I can help you retain control of your living situation and personal autonomy. I work for you and act in your best interests. Your documents remain on site, I don't have access to your accounts and all personal information is safeguarded and protected.

Furthermore, I work with other professionals to ensure there are no surprises, we can anticipate and plan for changed circumstances so that you can rest easy knowing there is someone trustworthy and knowledgeable ready to help.

Benefits of hiring a Daily Money Manager:

For family and caregivers:

  • time spent with your loved ones is focused on making memories, not sorting through mail and making phone calls

  • better handle on their financial picture - there may be accounts you didn't know existed, or benefits not being applied

  • less worry about fraud and scams, I monitor accounts, intercept mail designed to induce the sharing of account numbers, and I’m a phone call away for a senior who isn’t sure about a text or email they’ve received.

  • I’m a neutral third party - no fighting with mom and dad or siblings!

For other professionals…

Have a client in need of money management services?

I work with move managers, estate attorneys, accountants, financial advisors, senior placement advisors, home health aide agencies, geriatric care managers/aging life care professionals, bankers, insurance brokers, professional organizers, realtors and many more to help clients downsize, move or remain at home, budget for changing needs, manage medical expenses, liquidate and transfer assets as necessary. I can track down records, help close accounts, verify beneficiaries, assist with medicaid applications, and compile statements for taxes.

Communication with other professionals allows for a team approach, when life changes suddenly, as it often does, there’s no scrambling to find resources. They are already in place or are a phone call away!

If you have a client needing help at home, or considering a move into a community with more support, but they’re not sure how to afford it, that’s where a daily money manager can help. I will create a budget with an overview of income, expenses, and assets, and work with the client and their banker to best prepare for the next step.
